slip while drinking

Drinking, smoking. They do go hand in hand. I didn't even try a drink till I had two months in. I just didn't feel I was strong enough. Now I can have a couple of drinks... but then the craving kicks in. But I guess after this long I can deal with the cravings, or atleast if I don't over do it. Gotta remember N.O.P.E. No stubborn, you do not have to stop drinking as well! Just to balance this up, please know that I continued to enjoy alcohol from day one of my quit (and many people do) - it was a reward that so many people go on about here as very important and I agree with that. And I had 300 cigarettes about me in the house for seven weeks and didn't touch one of them. Do you know why the alcohol did not affect my quit nor the proximity of the cigarettes? Because I'd given up smoking and my desire to quit was greater than my desire to smoke. I chose not to smoke. If you are happier by avoiding alcohol for a time, avoid it but whenever you do return to the bar or the pub you will be faced with the same problem as today - face it early and overcome it and it's done with. As for not having the smoking paraphernalia in the house, how long does it take to run out and buy a pack and a box of matches? Please know that quitting can be done if you want it badly enough but if you are wavering in the slightest, for whatever reason, the likelihood is that you will fail. I advise steely determination and wou will be a winner. Whichever way you choose to quit, I wish you good luck. Again..I must ask..why do you guys seem to have smokes right there handy???? you stress...the smokes are there....whammo...you find yourself with a lit one in hand. TRASH them......many times the effort and time it will take for you to GET a smoke will be the time it takes you to get back in control.....keeping smoking materials close at hand is simply inviting a disaster......what are cigarettes for other than to smoke??? and you are quit...right???? so get rid of those smokes!!! avoiding alcohol in the beginning weeks of quitting is never a bad idea. It doesn't have to be forever....but you need to spare nothing in protecting your quit. another question.....where did the smokes come from? Get rid of all smoking materials....don't have ANY handy Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1849 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73,975 Amount Saved: $10539.3 Life Gained: Days: 243 Hrs: 21 Mins: 38 Seconds: 15
