I do not like going to the dentist, not that many people do...I have gone twice in the last year and every time my dentist cannot do anything -- the anxiety just rises and I am almost on the verge of a panic attack....my dentist told me she would give me some relaxing medication (not sure what) and then she can clean my teeth....Don't worry Amanda, try talking to your dentist and explain how you feel...and he/she may be able to suggest something that will help you...Take care of yourself.

P.S. My fear of the dentist started when I was young as well -- really bad and painful incident in India!

hi, amanda. please dont think your a nutter because you have a fear of dentists, i dont much like them either. Everybody on this site have their own individual fears and phobias, and if dentists is yours then so be it.

Hello, Many of you will think I am nutter but I have a real fear of dentists and this causes great distress as I am a sufferer of panic and anxiety attacks.I am on Beta-blockers Inderal LA 160 mg and also have reflexology and aromatherapy. But I am having to really do this as I have no choice as I have an abcess!! YUK I live in Surrey. I had a horrible childhood and fear when I was little. Thank-you Regards Amanda Harrison
