It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit......

One year ago today I was terrified. It was the first time I had ever tried to stop smoking. I told myself I wasn't trying to quit. I had quit. I used the patch and told myself no more smokes. Never, ever again. And I also gave the habit to Jesus Christ. So as I celebrate this day. I also give Him the glory. I also want to add that I started smoking when I was 15 and I'll be celebrating my 63rd birthday next month. I'm just grateful to still be living and enjoying good health after all those years of smoking!! I'd also like to add that my 52 year old brother passed away in March of this year from lung cancer. He was a chain smoker and gasped and struggled for each breath. He was diagnosed and passed away within 5 weeks, so there weren't any options or treatment plans for him. Up until then he had seemed to be in good heath. It was a very rapid moving cancer and there were no options for treatment or extending his life. He was only 53, so it's been a difficult death to accept, when you stop to realize it could have been prevented. I'm just grateful I had already quit and can celebrate this special day!! So to anyone just starting your quit or struggling, know that you can do it!!!
