I just read your post about coming off of prozac. I
have not taken prozac but I recently tried coming off
effexor. If you read my thread then you know how
that ended up.
I hope you don't mind but I would like to make
some suggestions. First of all please let your
doctor know that you want to come off the med. He
will support you if you really want to come off of it
and you need his guidance right now. He can tell
you what the best way is to come off the drug and
what kind of effects you can expect and how you
can deal with the whole thing.
Do not stop cold turkey. Some really bad things
can happen if you do that. You could have all kinds
of physical and mental ailments from coming off
the drug to fast. The best way is to come off of it
really gradually and really slowly. Your doctor can
advise you on this. If you go too fast you can really
end up in bad shape. Like I did. Trust me you don't
want to go there.
Please pay really close attention to your body and
your thoughts. If you get really physically ill or if you
are having strange or disturbing thoughts please
call your doctor right away. I ignored some key
signs when I was withdrawing and ended up
locked up on the psych ward.
One thing you might want to try if you are getting
physical withdrawal symptoms is taking benedryl. I
am not sure exactly why this helps but it really
does. When I was young I went through withdrawal
from opium and the benedryl really was a life
saver.

sound like a broken record but please make sure
that your doctor is aware of your decision.
