Fun?

I don't know about making quitting "fun", but there is humour in adversity.  Before your time, Ashley, , we had a thread called "The Crabby Ass Club" where each of us in turn confessed to the worst cases of temper tantrums in great detail.  It made quite a list, I can tell you.  As well as laughing at the situation, it made us realise that there are a lot of "side affects" that we share.

Hey Ashley -- You can tell from the dearth of responses that this is not an easy question to answer, but I've been thinking a lot about it and seem to recall a phrase from a book I read recently; the phrase is "something to push back against," and has to do with all the things in life we can't control (i.e., taxes, weather, sudden changes in fortune, unpredictable people in our lives, etc.).  We have to react or better, "respond" to such things as best we can, knowing that we have no real power over them.

Smoking, on the other hand, is "something we can push back against" with more power and control than we may realize we have.  It can become a game (albeit a grim one at times) to try and predict the addiction's next move and then prepare to "push back against it."  It becomes a contest that we can win, and one from which we can gain enormous satisfaction and maybe, on a good day, have some fun doing it.

Hi everyone,

Let’s take a different approach to quitting smoking.  We all know quitting is a lot of work and downright hard!  But let’s play with an idea; if you were to teach people how to make quitting smoking fun what would you say?
