Hey Damion, Maybe reviewing the reasons that you want to quit would help to refocus some of that energy? It's sort of like when you are lifting weights - you keep pushing yourself physically just a little bit more and the reward is huge. Sometimes you don't feel like doing it but you are SO grateful that you did. Smoking is the same thing. Honestly, look at how much of a hold nicotine has on you. The only way to end this is to push through these first few days and it won't always be like this. You can do this. Think about next week and visualize yourself as a non-smoker, then think about your goals for next year. You want to be smokefree then too right? Read posts on here and research smoking on the internet if you need more motivators. Hang tough! We are rooting for ya :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1174 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,480 Amount Saved: $5,283.00 Life Gained: Days: 89 Hrs: 15 Mins: 32 Seconds: 36

When you do quit smoking, drink lots of water to flush out your system. I also heard that eating bananas helps :quest: Instead of smoking, suck on a mint or eat nuts, seeds, whatever floats your boat. Just don't smoke! It takes time but as you can see from other stats, it CAN be done if you WANT! Here's what I think. I also tried the "I only smoke 2 or 3 a day so why is this so hard" theory. Well like everyone here has said you have to just do it. I am on day 7 and one thing that I have noticed is yes the cravings do get less frequent, I won't lie they are still there, but they do get easier to ignore. I always have some small pieces of gum with me and every time I feel like I want to smoke I pop a piece of gum and within a few minutes the craving goes away. In response to some of the post don't let anyone discourage you and your efforts. You are quitting for you and no one else. So when you think of smoking think of life, love and happiness. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask for help. Hey Damion911, they are right. The more you smoke the more cravings you will continue to have. Its not your fault, that's how they make cigarettes, they are supposed to make you crave again quickly, thats how they get us hooked. The sooner you get off the nicotine, the sooner you will feel better. Cutting down so drastically is not always the best way to prepare, as you have just found. We are here to help you. Three days is all it takes! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 232 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,800 Amount Saved: $2,447.60 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 9 Mins: 4 Seconds: 53
