One year ago today, I threw my cigarettes away for good. Not one cigarette in a year�.not even one little puff. I never thought I would make it. I have over $1200 sitting in an envelope that I haven�t spent on over 7,300 cigarettes. I gained weight while quitting, but got rid of all it�plus some. I�m healthier, I can breath deeply without hacking, and I smell a lot better than I used to. All because of 7 words my father said to me last September; �I�ll quit smoking if you quit smoking.�
He and I both quit as did my dear friend Robyn. As a three month congratulatory gift, I bought all three of us bracelets with our quit date and the acronym, N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever) on them. An old friend of my father, Marty, saw Dad�s bracelet and said that he thought he could quit with a bracelet like that. So we sent him one and on 2-11-06, he joined us by throwing his cigarettes away.
Between the 4 of us, we have not smoked 31,900 cigarettes and have saved $6411.00. That is incredible.
I actually have been putting my cigarette money in an envelope every week. My husband and I are tossing around ideas for a cool vacation to be financed by my cigarette money.
If you�ve just recently quit, hang in there. A year will pass a lot quicker than you think it will. Before you know it, you�ll be saying �Holy cow! I haven�t had a cigarette in a year!�
My most heartfelt thanks go out to SSC and all of its members. There were days in the beginning where the only thing between me and the next cigarette was SSC.
So a big congratulations and a round of applause for everyone at SSC, from those who will begin there quit shortly, to the old timers like Bubba and his billions of cigarettes not smoked! (Okay, maybe not billions, but his stats sure seemed like that to me a year ago. *G*)
