Another great post, Eve. :) It seems to me that the quitting smoking, the getting over the cigs, is the easy part. It's the learning to deal with life on life's terms that's hard, often soul-wrenching hard. Never-smokers have had years or decades to learn to deal with life, yet we only seem to allow ourselves months, if that, to do the same. You're absolutely right that this isn't a race. Nor is it a process that should be hurried. Patience is our greatest companion in this journey. Not only having patience with those around us, but having patience with ourselves to allow us the time to learn. I am glad you decided to post this here. It illustrates the emotional turmoil so many of us go through or are going through. People take comfort in knowing that their experience is the same as what others experience. There is strength and comfort in numbers, even if it's just on a psychological level. I'm sure there are many here who will be strengthened and comforted by your post. I certainly hope it provided some for you. Eve congratulations on your 100 days quit. Yes the 100 day mark is special........very special. Duffis was smart enough to recognize it's major importance and that is why the Centruy Club exists today. Personal growth is always enriching to the soul no matter how old you are and discovering the real you can be somewhat of a challenge yet so very rewarding. I was fortunate enough to dump all of my emotional garbage before I really attemped to quit smoking. Hope to see you at the next milestone. Eve, that is one strong post, girl. You are right...this quitting business is personal and has nothing to do with what anyone else is doing. AND, it has to be that way. We have to focus on our own quits to make it through. Not sure what you mean by "separation" though. The SSC and the folks here have saved my life. Each of us takes what we need and moves on into our lives, hopefully healthier and stronger. Sounds like you're becoming stronger, too! Congratulations on a great quit!
