Hi oodlechick - We have a new normal! One that is smoke free! On this journey we learn many new things about ourselves and find ourselves evolving into new people. We have to deal with our emotions and crying is a very cleansing emotion - if you feel the need to have a good cry then by all means - go right ahead. It does get better - I promise...but we are being stretched in many ways that we have never been stretched before. I like Rob's illustration in another posts about shedding our skin like a snake and that's exactly what we are doing - growing, stretching, shedding. Hope you are having a better day now. Celebrate Your Freedom. I asked this questions a few time in my quit. I did find my old sense of "normal". I basically felt like a mental wreck for a little while, but I kept the faith that it would pass, and it did. One day it just lifted.. that was a great day! So have faith, this will pass. If I remember right, it was around the end of my second month, so you are almost there. Oodle, It took years for us to develop the "normal" that was smoking. It wasn't over night either. So, it's going to take more than a few months to feel "normal" again. Yes, it does happen. I didn't think it EVER would, but it did. I still feel abnormal sometimes, but I felt abnormal sometimes as a smoker too. However, like islandgirl said, it's a different normal. It's not the same because WE are not the same anymore. Take comfort that it WILL get better. I promise! :) Crave the Quit! Hi oodle, I've said this before and I'll say it again: if normal was what I was before, I'll take abnormal anyday! Please know that your life will get better and better as each day goes by. It's okay to cry -- we sometimes did that as smokers, too! Hang in there...don't let the junkie rear its head...celebrate your freedom today!
