when does it get better?

Martha, Thanks for the link to Duffis' article ! It's great ! I like this paragraph: -------------- NO, the cravings don't go away, but you suddenly can see them as a temporary thing, kind of like gas, that will pass... sometimes with a bit of a stink just to remind you that it really is a process of elimination of the toxic thoughts of an addict. You may experience a twinge of a craving for decades... so what? It is a FEELING... you don't have to ACT on it! And it soon passes. --------------- Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 130 Amount Saved: $65 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 14 Seconds: 11

Is it craving or is it just a habbit. Yes, it will get better, but will it ever go away for good??? I doubt it. Once in a while we still want to smoke either it is a sunny day or a stressful day. Let's prepare, remember reasons why we decide to quit at first place, and fight it off. Keep busy and hope it will pass for you soon. -TT

Auction man I hope you are doing better today. I am not on here as much as I was a few weeks ago. I will say this yesterday I had a busy, rough day. Things just kept going wrong, and spiling on the floor. I am a clean freak, so I do cry over spilt milk. I also hate being late or the thought of. To the point, all of that was going on. Very stressful sitution for me. I actully thought smoking would make this so much worse. It would drain any extra time or energy I had. WHAT? You mean I am not going crazy, not cryin on the inside for a cig. The day kept going sour, at one moment I felt like just screaming. I did not feel like smoking. That was quite a momentous occaision fo me. It does happen. Although today with my cockiness I did crave today. When kid broke a vase(After I had just cleaned floors) However it was short lived. In fact I laughed at the thought, how ridiculous it was. This is a day by day process. It will get better. You are also dealing with other stuff right now. Which in its own right is stressful. Hang in there man, You Can Do It. Try not to put to much thought in the future. Just don't light the next cig. It does seem like around anniversarys, for me, is when I get weird, strong craves. They are just that weird. You should know what triggers them, and how to tellem to buzz off. You are in my prayers. ;) Oh yeah hope you had a fun auction :) Grace My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 633 Amount Saved: $124 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 8 Seconds: 18

Auctionman the oldies have written a lot of posts on this, do a search on the site and you will surely find them. One of them was by Duffis if I remember well. Yes it does get better, it takes time and patience . You can't beat a 20 year addiction in 2 weeks. You have to work at it every minute of the day. Hang in there it's so worth it . One day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,281 Amount Saved: $340 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 6 Mins: 20 Seconds: 4
