Day 1 (again!)

Thank you for your words of support. Believe me, it's always my intention to never take another puff. I honestly don't know what happens, it's like I'm another person for the moment I take that first drag. It's like I don't give a damn all of a sudden and there is nothing I or anyone else can do or say to make me change my mind in that moment. It's so weired. I've quit for months and that "weired self" appears out of nowhere and ruins everything. Well, today has been a good one. Every time I've felt the urge to smoke I tell myself "I'm in charge now, not my addiction." So far it's working well and the craving goes away. It makes me feel powerful to be in charge of my own addiction. I had a pretty full pack of cigarettes this morning and the first thing I did was give it to a worker that's working on the property. I feel good about not stinking today, not having the smokes and so far I don't miss it at all. I'm in charge, not those cigarettes. Thanks everyone.

I can't believe how many times I quit, doing day 1 again. I'm so sick of it. I don't know how many times I've quit just this year alone! Fortunatly I usually go for anywhere from 5-25 days without smoking, then I'll smoke a whole pack or two and quit again. It's just awful to be like this! I guess I could be called a binge smoker? I very seldom smoke for more than 3-10 days at a time. It really helps me to come here and read posts to motivate me to quit again. Sometimes I post, sometimes I just read and get a lot out of it. I love the support here and hope that at one point I'll have enough time under my belt to be able to be helpful to others.

egg, What brings you back to smoking? Perhaps keep a journal and use the just one more day approach. Get rid of all the smokes and lighters and really prepare by having coping mechanisms ready for those craves. Let us know how we can help :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
