In meditation, you practice not running away from thoughts or avoiding them, but acknowledging them and letting them go. I think this is the same practice to do when smoking thoughts come into our heads...no matter how many days, months, weeks or years...don't wrestle with them or engage in a war of tears or worry or words. Just say "hello" and let them go. Hi Tammi, Great job - not only 246 days but almost 5,000 cigarettes NOT SMOKED! That is 250 packs or 25 cartons. Amazing ain't it. It might just be a seasonal issue or circumstances were just right to bring up fond memories related to smoking. This is your first Spring as a non-smoker, right? Weird as it seems this may have something to do with it. I remember quite a ways into my quit I was driving to school around sunset on a particular road and the weather was just so and BAM! I wanted a cigarette. It was the first Spring to Summer season change I had been through since quitting. As long as you see the thoughts for what they are and realize you don't want to be a smoker again you'll get through it. Read some posts from the people going through Hell week if you need some additional resolve. It amazes me still I ever made it through that! Peace, Just shove it aside! Don't entertain the thought and if you have to, get out those coping mechanisms and use them at all costs. You must protect your quit. This is normal and we haven't come up with a name for it yet, but know that many members have experienced this and that you are not alone. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
